This project focuses on the development of a multi-layered garment designed to protect wearers from extreme heat, utilizing the principles of biomimicry. Inspired by natural models such as the Saharan silver ant and termite mounds, the garment integrates advanced 2D and 3D knitted textiles with nonwoven materials to enhance breathability, moisture management, and thermal insulation.

I personally handled every aspect of this project—from the initial research and design of the knitted structures and garment, to the construction of the final prototype. Additionally, I directed the art and visuals for the presentation, ensuring that the garment was not only functional but visually compelling.

The garment incorporates a double-layer knit for moisture diffusion and absorption, a semi-spacer fabric to promote air circulation, and a reflective nonwoven layer to deflect solar radiation. Together, these layers provide comprehensive protection against extreme heat, while maintaining comfort and breathability.

Through innovative textile engineering, sustainable design principles, and meticulous attention to detail in both construction and presentation, this project offers a cutting-edge solution for heatwave protection.
